Sleepy Whale 439
Lonely silence as she wears a crucified shirt
Storm tossed hearts shows on her face
Monks words Mary Beads base
Seated cross-legged smoking in her skirt
Valley of murmuring water in dirt
Nudging the door open with her knee covered in lace
Last glow of fleeting day near an embrace
Corpse rising salt white insert
Sleepy Whale 201
Deathless God
Church bells chime
Dishonors for a dime
Weak wasting roughshod
Naughty and crosses Promon
Eager anticipation of summertime
We poets try to rhyme
Solemnities slightly applaud
Noisy Church-yard
Last swig of the challis
Biscuit in tin like her became hard
White flint smoked glass
Confessional Avant-garde
Nuptial Midnight Mass
Sleepy Whale 351
Ghost woman flying sea ward bound
Tide sheeting the lows of the sand
Seaward pointed left hand
Delta of Cassiopeia heart-found
Path of destruction background
Star of the sea band
Woeful lunatic land
Butt of old cigar, ridding cherry lips round
Sleeping in moon-less sunshade
Foaming ale, spilled on her plaid
Life in urine scented suede
She’s sad he’s so bad
Slope of sage parade
Cat chasing Weasel Rat mad
Flabbergasted
He knows which side his bread is buttered
He was flabbergasted
That other boot which he had been looking
He was camping north of Rio Grand
Ay I am thinking
On a handsome mahogany table
He was blind to the world, Texas style
From the Editor:
We hope that readers receive In Parentheses as a medium through which the evolution of human thought can be appreciated, nurtured and precipitated. It will present a dynamo of artistic expression, journalism, informal analysis of our daily world, entertainment of ideas considered lofty and criticism of today’s popular culture. The featured content does not follow any specific ideology except for that of intellectual expansion of the masses.
Founded in late 2011, In Parentheses prides itself upon analysis of the current condition of intelligence in the minds of these young people, and building a hypothesis for one looming question: what comes after Post-Modernism?
The idea for this magazine stems from a simple conversation regarding the aforementioned question, which drew out the need to identify our generation’s place in literary history.
